Flemthane® Cast Polyurethane
Cast Polyurethane
Fleming's take your idea from initial design through to finished product. Our design team use CAD software and collaborate with the applications team to design the right product for you, with the added advantage of producing the majority of our tooling onsite to complete the project.
Flemthane® Cast Polyurethane
From Concept to Completion
We are also hugely experienced in reverse engineering parts, even in the extreme situation of piecing together a used sample to create a replacement part.
Flemthane cast polyurethane is engineered for the environments that test materials to their limits. Ideal for small batch quantities and large individual parts alike, Flemthane offers the flexibility, durability, and performance that arduous industrial applications demand
What is Flemthane®
A range of Polyurethane materials originally formed and registered in 1974 . Available in both Cast and injection moulded grades.
Cast Polyurethane is most suited to low volumes and the with the advantage that the process can produce much larger parts than other manufacturing processes.

Flemthane® Properties
Flemthane Cast polyurethanes are considered premium elastomers because the regular symmetric ether backbone gives exceptional properties:
Outstanding resilience & elasticity
Flemthane® elastomers return energy efficiently, maintaining their shape and performance under sustained compression or repeated impact where other materials may deform or set permanently.
Superior dynamic fatigue resistance
Withstands repeated flexing, impact, and cyclic loading without crack initiation — essential for parts in continuous motion or under pulsed load.
Very good low-temperature flexibility
Stays pliable at sub-zero temperatures
Good hydrolytic stability
Polyester polyurethanes degrade in wet or humid conditions over time. Flemthane ® is inherently resistant to hydrolysis, making it the correct choice for water, wastewater, and outdoor service.
Excellent abrasion and cut resistance
Outperforms rubber, nylon, and polyester polyurethane in aggressive wear environments — critical in quarrying, slurry handling, and mineral processing where abrasive particles are present.
Good tear strength
Flemthane® equates to fewer failures from cuts or notches that would quickly propagate in lower-performing materials. Components maintain integrity longer, reducing downtime and replacement costs.
Applications
Flemthane® cast polyurethane is used in the most demanding applications:
- Mining screens, hydro cyclones, star wheels and other wear parts
- Industrial rolls and wheels
- Seals and diaphragms, & balls under dynamic load,
- Conveyor components
- Sports equipment (e.g., inline skate wheels)
- Oil & gas seals and flex joints
- Wear strips Buffer and stops for use in various industries
- Parts used in agricultural plant and machinery
- Nuclear portholes and seals using Flemthane® 047 a Nuclear approved grade of Polyurethane, that is used in Nuclear sites around the world
